Empty Bowls 2012 - Lisa LaFlamme lends her support to our  local Food Bank Fundraiser

The Empty Bowls event is an annual fundraiser for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. It is organized by the Waterloo Potters' Workshop and the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery . This year the Robert Langen Art Gallery will once again serve as a second venue host for this note worthy initiative. The main event will be held at the Clay and Glass Gallery on May 17 (these tickets go on sale April 3rd) and the second host event to be held at the Robert Langen Art Gallery, WLU on May 10th from 11:30am-12:30pm.  For WLU ticket information please CLICK HERE..

The Workshop is excited to report that this year an on-line silent auction bowl will be added to the WLU Empty Bowls 2012 event. CTV National News Anchor, Lisa LaFlamme graciously volunteered her time to support Empty Bowls by creating a bowl for the silent auction. Under the instruction of Marlen Moggach , Lisa enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at the Workshop. As you can see from the photos below.

The on-line silent auction will go live on April 1, 2012 - tickets will go on sale April 2. For further details please CLICK HERE

This is our 14th Empty Bowls Fundraising year. To date we have raised $169,366.00 for the Food Bank.Lisa LaFlamme makes a Pottery Bowl

Meet friends, co-workers, your community at the Clay and Glass Gallery for the annual Empty Bowls event — and help the FoodBank of Waterloo Region.

Music is provided and adds to the ambiance of this special event!

Potters from the Waterloo Potters' Workshop create 600 handmade soup-sized bowls using donated clay from S & S Pottery Supplies and Tucker's Pottery Supplies. Local restaurants and bakeries prepare and donate amazing soups and freshly baked breads and buns. The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery hosts the event.

How this fundraiser works...

Members of the Workshop will produce around 700 soup bowls made from personal and donated materials (Tuckers and Pottery Supply House). Various breads are donated by local bakeries and gourmet soups are provided by 10 local
restaurants/chefs, with background music being provided by 2 harpists. At the same time we run a raffle for pottery donated by our members.

Tickets are $40.00 and are only available through the Clay & Glass Gallery starting of April 3rd and are usually sold out in 2 days.
(519) 746-1882

There are 2 sittings (5 restaurants at each) at 12:00 - 2:00 and 4:30 - 6:30.

Tables are set up in the main Gallery space along with 5 soup and bread stations. Bowls are set out in an adjoining area and patrons pick out their bowls, have them washed, sample the soups and breads and then take the bowls home. During the two sittings we also have draws for door prizes.

Come, have fun and support the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

Tickets entitle guests to select a bowl to keep, enjoy a bountiful meal, and savour the ambiance of the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. The hope is that each time the empty bowl is taken from your cupboard at home, the bowl will serve as a reminder that someone else's bowl was empty and that on this occasion, you helped alleviate hunger in our community.
