Empty Bowls
The Empty Bowls
project
Empty Bowls is an initiative designed to help feed the
hungry by sampling gourmet soups and breads prepared by
local restaurants hosted by the Canadian Clay and Glass
Gallery. All proceeds go to the Waterloo Food Bank.
Patrons are able to choose
a bowl, have it washed, sample soups and bread and take
the bowl home. Background ambience is provided by a
harpist and door prizes are given out. As a further
fundraiser for the Food Bank, we also set up a raffle of
5 pottery pieces donated by our members. Tickets are
sold at our Spring Sale and at the event, with the draws
being made at the end of the day.
The Waterloo
Potters' Workshop is
heading into its 12th year of running Empty Bowls.
To date, the
Waterloo Potters' Workshop together with the Canadian
Clay & Glass Gallery, local restaurants and bakeries, and our community have
raised over $128,231 with this event for the Food Bank.
If you are a member of WPW volunteers are always needed
so please consider helping out this year.

until August 22,
2010

Our juror, Joni Moriyama, presented a brief talk
about her work that was entertaining and informative.
Joni gave an interesting look into the process she
followed when selecting the show. The glass cases that
the show is displayed in influenced her decisions as she
was very conscious not only of the merit of the
individual pieces but of how the pieces would fit
together as a whole.
