The Empty Bowls
project
is an initiative designed to help feed the
hungry by sampling gourmet soups and breads prepared by
local restaurants hosted by the Canadian Clay and Glass
Gallery. All proceeds go to the Waterloo Food Bank.
Patrons are able to choose
a bowl, have it washed, sample soups and bread and take
the bowl home. Background ambience is provided by a
harpist and door prizes are given out. As a further
fundraiser for the Food Bank, we also set up a raffle of
5 pottery pieces donated by our members. Tickets are
sold at our Spring Sale and at the event, with the draws
being made at the end of the day.
The Waterloo
Potters' Workshop just finished their
13th year of running Empty Bowls.
To date, the
Waterloo Potters' Workshop together with the Canadian
Clay & Glass Gallery, local restaurants and bakeries, and our community have
raised over $169,366 with this event for the Food Bank
after the 2011 event.
