Make functional dishes and decorative objects with clay safely at home. Learn the handbuilding techniques of carving, pinching and joining coils. And, learn to decorate the pottery with coloured slips, including mishima (coloured slip inlay). Lessons will cover making lidded containers, planters, decorative birds and fruit, plus vases.
The topics for the final lesson will be determined by input from the students. Experience making pottery is not required. This course is for people ages 16 years and up. Registration is limited to 12 students to ensure individualized attention.
