Class Description:
This class is intended for newer members to the workshop that are making pots and using house glazes or commercial glazes but want to mix up a small test batch of a specific glaze. Mixing your own glaze can be quite economical and gives you complete control over the batch. Students will bring a glaze recipe to class, and we will go over how much to make for a test batch, how to measure and test different SG (specific gravity), how to keep good records and lastly how to record and pay for the glaze ingredients you used. This class is intended to be a practical hands-on day to support and encourage new members in making their first batch of glaze. The class will be casual, with lots of opportunities to ask questions. I will book a kiln to fire the test tiles and then we can go over the results a few weeks later.
