Waterloo Potters' Workshop

We are a non-profit Cooperative located in the historic  Jacob Eby Farmhouse  in Waterloo Park in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada since 1967. We have a well-equipped pottery studio, offer classes to the public and organize pottery sales and charity events.

Celebrate Summer, our Seconds Sale!

Thanks for your huge support! We've raised funds for local children's charities, and cleared our shelves, ready for new, unique work.

Online Pottery Classes

In response to the COVID pandemic we offered pottery courses online in the Fall of 2021. We are happy to offer them again this Spring!

The classes are held on Zoom and include lesson videos, live demonstrations and lots of individualized attention. The lesson videos are available to watch for over a year. There are also online discussion boards for students to share their work, ideas and ask questions. The courses teach handbuilding techniques that can be safely done at home. The firings and glazing is done for the students at the Workshop.

The CARVE & SQUEEZE ONLINE COURSE teaches
the techniques of kurinuki (carving a dish from a solid block of clay), pinching and coiling.

The FLATTEN & JOIN ONLINE COURSE teaches assembling pottery from clay slabs using flat patterns as well as hump and slump molds.

Both courses cover a variety of surface decoration techniques using coloured slips.

We have two main pottery sales where members’ work is showcased: the Fall Sale in November and the Spring Sale is usually in April, but in 2021 it was in August. In June, members donate ‘seconds’ or less-than-perfect pots for the Celebrate Summer Open House Seconds Sale, where all proceeds are donated to local charities.
