Homework

For more information on how to prepare for upcoming classes, refer to the Lessons Netboard
Prepare for Class Two
Watch this video to learn how to make stamps. You will need stamps (or found objects like pens and markers) to make a face on the pinch pot planters we will make in the next class.

There are lots of options to choose from. You don't need to do them all, just pick the one you like best.

If you don't want to decorate your pot with a face, then choose another design. It could be as simple as dots (from the end of a marker) and lines (from your line roulette).
Prepare for Class Three
Watch this video to find out how to prepare for the next class when we will make sculptures from joined pinch pots (like fruit and birds).

Also, review the posts that show examples of joined pinch pots that are on the Lesson Netboard for Class Three.
Prepare for Class Four
Watch this video to find out how to prepare for the next class when we will make vases (or bowls) from coils.

Also recommended, is this recording from 1972 of Maria Martinez and her son Popovi Da making traditional Pueblo Native American pottery. If you don't have time to watch the entire film (which includes harvesting clay, making, decorating and firing their pottery), just advance to the 5 minute mark to see Maria make a coiled pot.
