The Decorative Plate Workshop
This demonstration and hands-on surface decoration workshop will focus on design through line, shape, and colour. The technique combines sgraffito carving with painting using a variety of brush-on glazes and underglazes. Participants will work on sample tiles, to fire at a later date.
Suitable for all skill levels. Materials are provided but you are welcome to bring small brushes and your colourful brush-on glazes.
About the Instructor
Nikola Wojewoda, a Hamilton based artist of Polish and Russian decent, is a graduate of Ontario College of Art. Her current practice includes mixed media drawing and painting, vintage wallpaper collage, figurative clay sculpture incorporating found objects, and illustrated ceramics. She often combines two and three dimensions to tell a story. Her detailed and process oriented work investigates the intersection of icon, symbol and pattern and the bridges between craft and fine art
